Frequently Asked Questions

All LaserVision USA products meet ANSI Z136.1 and Z87.1 standards. Face shields, helmets, and glasses are rated for the optical densities required at 1070-1080 nm - the wavelength of most fiber lasers. Enclosures and barriers provide room-level containment to Class 1 accessible emission limits.

At minimum, every operator needs certified face or eye protection: a laser welding face shield or auto-darkening helmet rated for your laser wavelength and power. For higher-power systems above 1 kW, a full enclosure or curtain barrier is also recommended to protect non-operators in the area. PAPR respirators provide respiratory protection against metal fumes.

Laser face shields (P1P18, P1P22, P1P23) use a fixed passive lens that always provides full optical density protection - ideal for continuous welding. Auto-darkening helmets (Panoramaxx series) use ADF technology to adjust shade automatically, improving comfort between welds. Both are equally safe; the choice depends on workflow preference.

No. Standard welding helmets are designed for arc flash, not laser radiation. Laser radiation at 1064-1080 nm passes through standard welding lenses and causes permanent eye damage. You must use helmets and face shields specifically certified for your laser wavelength and optical density.
