FinishMaster Bowl FAQs

Common questions about the Polar FM-2010, FM-2000, FM-4000, and FM-6000 vibratory bowls.

What's the difference between the FM-2010 tabletop and the FM-2000/4000/6000 floor models?
The FM-2010 is a benchtop unit at just 16" tall — it sits on a workbench, fits under overhead shelves, and features a quick-release bowl for easy media changes and portability. The FM-2000 offers the same 0.5 cu ft capacity as the FM-2010 but on a floor stand at 28" height. The FM-4000 (1.3 cu ft) and FM-6000 (3.0 cu ft) are progressively larger floor-standing units for higher part volumes or larger parts. All four share the same solid urethane bowl construction and direct-drive, belt-free motor.
What media types work with the FinishMaster bowl?
Compatible media types include ceramic deburring media, plastic polishing media, porcelain burnishing media, and dry media such as corn cob or walnut shell for surface drying and mild finishing. Steel burnishing media is not recommended for the FM-2000/2010/4000/6000 series — for steel-media applications, the FM-BB or FM-BIS bowl series is the correct choice.
How noisy are FinishMaster bowls in a shop environment?
FinishMaster bowls use a patented rubber suspension mount system that substantially reduces transmitted vibration and operational noise compared to rigid-mount competitors. The FM-2010 is particularly quiet for a benchtop unit and is suitable for use in office-adjacent shop spaces. Optional sound covers are available for further noise reduction on all models.
Do these bowls need special electrical installation?
No. All FM-2010, FM-2000, FM-4000, and FM-6000 models run on standard 110/220V single-phase power — the same outlet as a standard shop tool. No special wiring, dedicated circuits, or electrician visit is required for installation. This makes them easy to position anywhere in your facility and reposition as production needs change.
What add-on options are available for FinishMaster bowls?
Available upgrades include: Compound & Water Dosing System (FM-DP-3C) for automated compound delivery during wet finishing, Variable Speed Drive (VFD) for amplitude control, and Rubber Mounts for additional noise reduction. The flow-through wet finishing capability is built into all models.
What is the lead time and how do I order?
