MERV 11 vs. MERV 15 Cartridge Filters
This is one of the most useful comparisons for fabrication shops. Under the MERV test ranges, MERV 11 media must capture at least 20% of 0.3–1.0 µm particles, 65% of 1.0–3.0 µm particles and 85% of 3.0–10.0 µm particles. MERV 15 raises those minimums to 85%, 90% and 95% respectively.
That large improvement in the smallest test range can matter for fine dust and fume. It does not automatically make MERV 15 the better operating choice.
